Changed Vaccine Name

The European Medicines Agency announced the name change in an update dated 23 June, 2021. The original name was mRNA-1273 or COVID-19-Vaccine Moderna. Spikevax is an mRNA vaccine. It is given to people over the age of 18 to protect against COVID-19. Two doses of the vaccine are required to ensure the full effect. The Standing Committee on Vaccination (STIKO) in Germany initially recommended three to six weeks for the interval between the first and second dose. On 1 April, 2021, they increased this vaccination interval to six weeks. According to the STIKO, both a very good individual protective effect and a greater effect of vaccination on the population level can be achieved in this way.
